Lviv journalist complained about the unwillingness of Ukrainians to fight

MOSCOW, April 18 – RIA Novosti. Ukrainians are in no hurry to enroll in the army, while young people, in the event of a conflict, will prefer to simply leave the country, writes Stanislav Bezushko, a journalist for the Lviv edition of Zaxid.net.

The author of the article recalled the case with the deputy of the Servant of the People party Anna Kolesnik, who, while listening to the report of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Ruslan Khomchak, sent a message in the messenger: “We need to get out of the country.” Львовский журналист пожаловался на нежелание украинцев воевать

“But the question now is not only about it, but about the readiness of the whole society for war. The phrase” We must get out of this country “is about the real state of readiness of the majority of Ukrainians to resist. There are those who can leave or know how to do it quickly , there are those who will say: “war is a political game”, but someone will still go to defend. Personally, I get the impression that the latter will be much less, “he complained.

In his opinion, such phrases can be heard in various discussions and discussions, including from “patriots”, while most often they sound from young people aged sixteen to thirty, who believe that in case of war one must travel for border.

Bezushko added that a few weeks ago, supporters of the legalization of firearms in the country talked about their plans to defend Ukraine in the event of a “Russian invasion”, but at the moment there are no queues from those willing at the commissariats.

As the author writes, the Ukrainians themselves, some opinion leaders, politicians and even former combatants are engaged in demotivating and discrediting the military. At the same time, the security and integrity of the state have become for many a political instrument to achieve their goals. Львовский журналист пожаловался на нежелание украинцев воевать

“It is quite easy to defend Ukraine from Russia in Lvov, beating up street musicians or telling how the Ukrainian military should act in the trenches. But it is very far from idle talk to real action,” concluded Bezushko.

At the end of March, the Ukrainian security forces announced that four soldiers were killed and two more were wounded during shelling near the village of Shumy in the Donetsk region. Kiev began to declare about the aggravation of the situation in Donbass. In turn, the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics accused Kiev of exacerbation – according to their statements, there are provocations from the security forces, and the militias are opening fire back. Also, both the DPR and the LPR announced the discovery of dozens of units of Ukrainian military equipment in settlements. In addition, Lugansk accused Kiev of indiscriminate mining of territories.

Western states have recently expressed concern over the alleged intensification of “aggressive actions” by Russia in Ukraine. Washington announced the escalation of “Russian aggression” and the movement of Russian troops in Crimea and on the eastern border of Ukraine.

Dmitry Peskov, a spokesman for the Russian president, said that Russia is moving troops within its territory and at its own discretion. According to him, this does not threaten anyone and should not worry anyone. In addition, Moscow has repeatedly stated that it is not a party to the internal Ukrainian conflict and is interested in seeing Kiev overcome the political and economic crisis.
