MOSCOW, April 17 – RIA Novosti. The head of the Duma International Affairs Committee Leonid Slutsky believes that the grounds for expelling Russian diplomats from the Czech Republic “do not stand up to criticism, as well as references to the events of 2014.”
On Saturday, Czech Foreign Minister Jan Hamacek said that 18 Russian diplomats were being expelled from the country; they must leave the country within 48 hours.
“The Czech Republic, expelling Russian diplomats, is following the Russophobic channel of Washington. The grounds do not stand up to criticism, as well as references to the events of 2014. I am sure there were no real reasons for such a step,” Slutsky told reporters on Saturday.
According to him, the expulsion of 18 employees of the diplomatic mission is “a serious blow to bilateral relations with Russia.” “As is customary in such cases, retaliatory measures from our side will surely follow,” he concluded.
