MINSK, April 16 – RIA Novosti. Belarus stands for a constructive and mutually respectful Russian-American dialogue, since this process has a significant impact on security and stability in the region, press secretary of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry Anatoly Glaz told RIA Novosti on Friday.
The United States on Thursday introduced new sanctions against the Russian Federation, which, in particular, prohibit US financial institutions from buying Russian government bonds during the initial placement after June 14. However, they will still be able to buy and sell Russian government bonds on the secondary market. The US expects that sanctions against the national debt will affect the growth of Russia's GDP, inflation and the market as a whole, as well as force the Russian authorities to spend reserves.
“In principle, we believe, and have said more than once about this, that sanctions are a deliberately useless and counterproductive tool. Moreover, in fact, it is deliberate sabotage. including those countries that impose sanctions. Business contacts are broken, tension is generated, instability increases on a global scale, and so on, “Glaz said, commenting on the new US sanctions against the Russian Federation.
He expressed confidence that “such steps by the United States will not bring any effect, except harm, just as they have already done in the past.”
“We are against this style of communication and are in favor of a constructive and mutually respectful Russian-American dialogue,” said the press secretary. He explained that “it is extremely important also because this process has a significant impact on security and stability in our region.”
“For us, this is also another clear indicator of whether some of our partners can be trusted, as well as a signal for even more active development of cooperation with self-reliance within the EAEU and other integration associations,” Glaz emphasized.
