MOSCOW, April 15 – RIA Novosti. Fraudsters often visit citizens' apartments under the guise of checking gas pipes and stoves. They may discover an alleged “leak”, which they will immediately offer to eliminate for money, Anastasia Bastrykina, general director of the PGR agency, told the Prime agency.
In particular, you may be offered the installation of a gas analyzer, which, according to the assurances of the inspectors, detects gas leaks. However, in fact, you will not get any tangible benefit from this device. “They are often useless because they are installed without observing certain requirements – such a device does not recognize a leak,” the specialist warns.
In order not to fall for the tricks of fraudsters, you need to know that gas appliances are checked once a year by service organizations, moreover, on a free basis. They fix the leaks themselves or send other specialists at the time agreed with the tenants.
As for gas analyzers, they show gas leakage only at a significant concentration, so such devices are not only useless, but also dangerous. If you want to make sure that this is a real gasman, and not a swindler, you should call the gas service or call 112, Bastrykina concluded.
