MOSCOW, April 10 – RIA Novosti. More than 1.1 thousand monuments in Moscow will be washed after winter, the process will last until the end of April, Petr Biryukov, deputy mayor of the capital for housing and public utilities and improvement, told reporters on Saturday.

“Within the framework of the improvement month, large-scale work is planned to clean up monuments and monuments. In total, more than 1.1 thousand of the capital's monuments will be washed after winter until the end of April,” Biryukov said.

He clarified that these events are carried out only at above-zero temperatures, each object is washed using a special technology. “Titanium monuments are washed with a neutral solution, and granite monuments are washed with special compounds that allow you to effectively remove salt stains. All the tools used are safe for the environment and gently affect the surface of structures,” Biryukov said.

He stressed that hydraulic lifts and watering machines are used to carry out work on large objects, and small monuments are cleaned by hand.

“Before washing, workers check if there is any damage or rust on the structure. After that, the monument is washed with water, then a foamed solution is applied, which is washed off after 10 minutes with a strong pressure of water. At the end, the monument is wiped dry,” Biryukov said.

According to him, special attention is paid to cleaning sculptural compositions with a large number of small details: each of them is cleaned by hand using soft brushes. Employees of the Municipal Services Complex have already washed the Triumphal Arch, the Victory Monument on Poklonnaya Hill, the monuments to Yuri Gagarin on Leninsky Prospekt and the Monument to the Conquerors of Space at VDNKh after winter.
