MOSCOW, April 6 – RIA Novosti. The Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation considers the situation on the food market in Russia to be stable and does not see the prerequisites for a sharp rise in selling prices for any products, the ministry said in a statement.
Rosstat on Tuesday published data on the consumer price index in March this year. According to the statistics department, food inflation in March in monthly terms amounted to 0.82% after 1.22% in February. Most of all in the last month rose in price for carrots (by 14.8%), potatoes (by 13.4%), beets (by 11.2%), onions (by 7.5%), chicken meat (by 7.2 %), cabbage (6.7%), chicken eggs (5.3%) and mutton (5%).
“The Ministry of Agriculture constantly monitors the prices of agricultural producers for the main categories of food. At present, the Ministry assesses the situation as stable and does not see prerequisites for a sharp rise in selling prices for any commodity groups,” the Ministry of Agriculture reports.
