Former Saratov minister and husband acquitted in bribery case

SARATOV, April 2 – RIA Novosti. The Oktyabrsky District Court of Saratov acquitted the former minister – chairman of the regional informatization committee Larisa Kuznetsova and her husband Oleg Kozlov in the case of bribes worth 13.4 million rubles, the press service of the court reported.

According to the investigation, from September 2013 to February 2017, the accused, holding the post of Minister – Chairman of the Informatization Committee of the Saratov Region, and then Deputy Regional Minister of Economic Development, received money from a businessman for patronage. The entrepreneur located his enterprises in the premises of multifunctional centers. The prosecutor's office notes that the ex-minister's husband mediated in bribery. The amount of bribes exceeded 13.4 million rubles.

“The court, evaluating the evidence presented by the prosecution in conjunction with other investigated evidence, came to the conclusion that the event of the crimes imputed to the defendant Kuznetsova and Kozlov has not been established, in connection with which the court issued an acquittal,” the statement says.

Kuznetsova was charged under the article of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Taking a bribe on an especially large scale”, and her husband – “Mediation in bribery committed on an especially large scale.”
