As part of the modernization of the infectious disease service in Russia, it is planned to build 82 new infectious buildings as part of multidisciplinary hospitals in 50 constituent entities of the Russian Federation, the vice-speaker of the Federation Council Galina Karelova told RIA Novosti on Thursday.
“As part of the execution of paragraph 2 of the instructions following the meeting of the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin with the members of the Council of the House of the Federation Council held in February this year, the Ministry of Health prepared proposals for the modernization of the infectious service taking into account regional programs,” Karelova said.
According to her, “it is planned to build additional 82 new infectious diseases buildings as part of multidisciplinary hospitals in 50 constituent entities of the Russian Federation, overhaul and reconstruction of 955 infectious diseases wards, and equip them with modern medical equipment.”
In addition, it is planned to build and repair laboratories, create a scientific and clinical production complex, including the construction of a federal scientific and clinical center for infectious diseases, she added.
“Infectious diseases continue to be one of the main problems in the field of public health. It is the development and continuous maintenance of the appropriate material and technical base of the infectious service that are key in the field of preparedness and proper response to new threats,” the politician said.
According to Karelova, the measures taken will allow Russia to increase the level of resistance to infectious diseases, and also “will help to a greater extent to protect our citizens from both seasonal outbreaks and global threats.” Vologodskaya Oblast
