KIEV, March 16 – RIA Novosti. On the occasion of the anniversary of the referendum on the annexation of Crimea to Russia, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said that Kiev would not abandon the peninsula and prepared “a strategy for the de-occupation and reintegration of the peninsula.”
“Seven years ago, Russia staged a fake referendum in Crimea. For the first time after the illegal annexation, Ukraine prepared a strategy for de-occupation and reintegration of the peninsula. We are uniting the world on the basis of the Crimean platform to return Ukrainian things to Ukraine,” Zelensky wrote on his Twitter.
The Crimean Platform summit, at which Kiev plans to discuss the return of Crimea, is scheduled for August 23, on the eve of Ukraine's Independence Day. The Ukrainian side offered to join the platform to a number of states, including Turkey, France, Great Britain, Germany, Canada and the United States.
Last week, an informed source in Moscow told RIA Novosti that the Russian Federation regards Kiev's strategy of “de-occupation” of Crimea as an unacceptable threat of aggression against two Russian subjects, and the participation of any countries in the “Crimean Platform” as an encroachment on the territorial integrity of the Russian Federation.
