MOSCOW, 15 March – RIA Novosti. Vladimir Putin awarded the Order of Pirogov to the chairman of the board of directors of the Promomed Group, Pyotr Bely.
The presidential decree was published on the official portal of legal information.
The document states that Pyotr Bely was awarded “for merits in the production of pharmaceuticals.”
In 2020, the Saransk plant Biochemist, a member of the Promomed group, developed and began production of the drug for the treatment of coronavirus infection Areplivir (international non-proprietary name Favipiravir).
As the Ministry of Industry and Trade reported in February, since September, the plant has already increased the production of the drug tenfold, to one million packs per month, it is planned to increase the volume to two million.
The Pirogov Order was established on June 19, 2020 in the context of a coronavirus pandemic. The award bears the name of the Russian surgeon, founder of military field surgery, Nikolai Pirogov (1810-1881). The Order is awarded to citizens of Russia for their dedication in providing medical care in emergencies, epidemics, hostilities and other circumstances that pose a risk to life. In certain cases, awards may be awarded to foreign citizens. The first holders of the Pirogov Order were medical workers and volunteers who distinguished themselves in the fight against the spread of COVID-19.
