CHELYABINSK, March 16 – RIA Novosti. A criminal case was opened after 17 carriages with coal derailed from the rails in the Chelyabinsk region, the Ural Investigative Department for Transport of the TFR reported.
The incident occurred on March 16 at 05.20 (03.20 Moscow time). During the movement of a freight train consisting of two locomotives and 66 wagons loaded with coal, 17 freight wagons derailed along the odd route of the Syrostan-Khrebet route of the South Ural railway. Due to the derailment, the railway track was damaged, there were no casualties as a result of the accident.
“The Ural Investigative Directorate of Transport of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation has initiated a criminal case on the basis of a crime under Part 1 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (violation of the safety rules for railway transport, which has caused major damage by negligence) on the fact of the descent of freight train cars” …
At the scene of the incident, an investigative and operational group is working, consisting of investigators and forensic experts of the Ural Investigative Department for Transport of the Investigative Committee, transport police officers, the report says. An inspection of the scene, interviews of the members of the locomotive brigade and other railway workers, the seizure of the necessary documentation aimed at establishing all the circumstances of the incident are being carried out, the message explains.
