Bundestag deputy Gerdt called the condition for the recognition of Crimea in the West

SIMFEROPOL, March 16 – RIA Novosti. Recognition of Crimea as Russian in Western countries will require a change of political elites in them, said the deputy of the Bundestag from the Alternative for Germany party Waldemar Gerdt in an interview with RIA Novosti.

The interlocutor of the agency stressed that Western countries refuse to recognize the Russian status of the peninsula, since otherwise they will have to abandon plans to expand NATO to the east and admit the complete defeat of their military-political doctrine. “As soon as the political elite in power in Western countries changes I am sure that the issue of Crimea will be removed, and the expression of the will of the Crimeans will be recognized, “the deputy said.

He also recalled that the referendum was held in accordance with international law.

“There was no annexation or occupation of Crimea. To consider Crimea an annexed and occupied territory is a pure kind of political speculation. During the Crimean referendum, all procedures of international law were followed. The referendum was completely legitimate, and if anyone had any questions, what percentage?” for “as many as” against “, then the subsequent elections to the authorities showed almost the same result,” – said Gerdt.

According to the politician, the Ukrainian authorities have nothing to do with the inhabitants of the peninsula.

“If they considered the Crimeans as their people, they would not turn off the water, not deprive them of pensions, or impose sanctions. Everything was done to alienate the people from the mainland of Ukraine. There is no way back for Crimea,” the deputy concluded.

Crimea marks the seventh anniversary of the referendum marking the reunification of the peninsula with Russia. The celebrations are held under the slogan “Crimean Spring – Seven Years at Home”.
