S.-PETERSBURG, March 16 – RIA Novosti. The governor of the Pskov region, Mikhail Vedernikov, called the act of a resident of the regional center heroic, who saved two children who fell through the ice the night before, regional authorities report on Tuesday.
“Two boys of ten and eleven years old, walking along the embankment of the Velikaya River, went out on thin ice and fell into a hole. Andrei Strugin, who at that time was passing by on a bicycle, rushed to the guys to help and rescued them from the water,” message.
As noted by the regional administration, one of the boys, after being treated on the spot, was taken to the hospital with hypothermia.
“This is without exaggeration a heroic act. You were sympathetic and very quickly orientated yourself, having managed to help children. This is a worthy example of real courage and heroism for the younger generation,” the governor of the region said to Strugin, whose words are quoted in the message.
He also gave the man a certificate for a new bike and his daughter a teddy bear.
