MOSCOW, 15 March – RIA Novosti. The Kremlin does not know where Alexei Navalny, who is serving his sentence, is now, there is the Federal Penitentiary Service for this, said the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov. “We have no information about the whereabouts of convicts in the Russian Federation. This information. Agree that, again, the presidential administration is not the body that can or should have such information, “Peskov told reporters.
He noted that “this is one of the convicts in the Russian Federation who is serving a sentence by a court decision.” “We do not have information about where the convicts are serving their sentences. Nobody provides such information to us,” Peskov emphasized.
Answering the question whether the Kremlin considers it correct to practice when neither lawyers nor relatives know where the convict is, Peskov recalled that there is a certain procedure for serving the sentence and informing the relatives and friends of the convict. “I do not know about the president's attitude to this practice. There is a certain order of serving the sentence, a certain order of informing the family and friends of the convict. I do not know this order. If there is really interest, then perhaps it is worth contacting the Federal Penitentiary Service for explanations, “he said.
Earlier, lawyer Vadim Kobzev told RIA Novosti that Navalny was taken from the pre-trial detention center, where it is not yet clear, and the defender “does not even have any suggestions” about the purpose of the transfer.
According to the verdict, Navalny must serve time in a general regime colony, there are two of them in the Vladimir region: No. 2 in the city of Pokrov and No. 5 in Vladimir. The media, citing their sources, reported that the blogger was sent to the first of them.
Officially, the FSIN does not comment on the situation, noting that it has no right to disclose the place of serving the sentence to anyone except relatives.
On February 2, the Simonovsky Court of Moscow ruled to cancel Navalny's suspended sentence in the Yves Rocher case and replace him with 3.5 years in a general regime colony. The FSIN insisted on this – according to the department, he repeatedly violated the conditions of the probationary period and was put on the wanted list before his arrest. Subsequently, the Moscow City Court approved this decision.
In addition, Navalny must pay 850 thousand rubles for defamation of the veteran of the Great Patriotic War Ignat Artemenko. The defense appealed the verdict, the appeal will have to be considered by the Babushkinsky Court of Moscow. Whether Navalny himself will participate in the meeting in person or by video link, the court will decide.
The Yves Rocher case was initiated by the Investigative Committee at the request of the then head of the company's representative office in Russia, French citizen Bruno Leproux. As the court established, Navalny and his brother Oleg tricked the representatives of Yves Rocher into concluding an agreement on mail transportation with the Glavnaya Subscription Agency company, which they had created.
Services, according to the verdict, were provided at inflated rates and by another transport company. The total damage, according to the RF IC, exceeded 30 million rubles: 26 million were stolen from Yves Rocher, the rest from the Interregional Processing Company, which, according to the investigation, became another object of fraud.
