MOSCOW, 15 March – RIA Novosti. Attempts to politicize the use of the Russian vaccine against COVID-19 are taking place, including in Europe, Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation, told reporters.
He was asked to clarify whether the Kremlin really does not see the politicization of the issue of using the Russian vaccine, for example, in the EU. “To our regret, we cannot say that. You know that President Putin has always, from the very beginning of this story, opposed the politicization of vaccines,” Peskov replied.
He added that the general task of the world community is to vaccinate the necessary part of the population as quickly as possible in order to stop the pandemic.
“President Putin has always been against this topic becoming an instrument in the hands of unscrupulous politicians and provocateurs. We see that, unfortunately, such attempts are taking place. We hear many statements, including from European countries, that are not very successful. “, – said the representative of the Kremlin.
But all this, according to him, “in no way stops the conscientious, systematic work of both Russian scientists and Russian representatives, who satisfy the ever growing international demand for this vaccine.”
When asked to clarify to what extent Russian President Vladimir Putin is engaged in ensuring that the Russian vaccine is officially recognized in the EU, a Kremlin spokesman replied: “The President is not engaged in this, and he cannot do this.” He explained that the recognition and consent to the use of the vaccine in certain countries “is developed not on the basis of any diplomatic contacts, but on the basis of an expert scientific approach.”
“Therefore, this is absolutely not the president’s business. A whole set of documents is submitted, this is a very complicated procedure. You know that the vaccine has already been well studied, the vaccine has been well tested, tested in different age groups. , not on the basis of some rumors, but on the basis of clear scientific factors to make a decision on its use, “concluded Peskov.
