S.-PETERSBURG, 15 March – RIA Novosti . The Leningrad Region is one of the five Russian regions involved in the production of cultivated mushrooms (champignons) in Russia, a spokesman for the regional administration told RIA Novosti, citing data from the Russian Ministry of Agriculture.
According to him, in 2020 the production of champignons in Russia reached 86.3 thousand tons. Of these, 6.1% of the mushrooms were grown in the Leningrad region – this is the fifth place among Russian regions.
“Last year, the region's farms grew 5.3 thousand tons of champignons, which is three times more than in 2019, plans for 2021 are production of 8.5 thousand tons,” the source said.
He added that three enterprises are engaged in the production of mushrooms in the Leningrad Region. The increase in production was due to the launch of a greenhouse complex at the Vyborzhets agricultural company for year-round industrial production of cultivated mushrooms. The area of the complex of 3.9 hectares allows the production of up to 10 thousand tons of champignons per year. “The authorities of the Leningrad region provide state financial support to protected soil enterprises for agro-technological work, the purchase of seeds, and compensates for 10% of capital expenditures for the construction and modernization of the complexes. such support amounted to 77.3 million rubles, “- summed up the press service.
