VLADIVOSTOK, 15 March – RIA Novosti. The driver of Toyota Prius, who knocked down a traffic police inspector to death in a suburb of Vladivostok, is being prosecuted as a witness, a spokesman for the Investigative Committee for the Primorsky Territory told RIA Novosti.
“The case was initiated upon the fact, expert examinations have been appointed, it is found out who is responsible for the accident. All participants are witnesses,” he specified.
The accident in the suburbs of Vladivostok occurred the previous morning. Toyota Carina, driven by a woman born in 1945, crashed into a Toyota Prius. From the impact, the Prius driver lost control, his car was thrown onto a police officer and parked cars. The senior inspector of the traffic police was taken to the hospital, but he died in intensive care. He is survived by a wife and a five-year-old daughter.
It was later revealed that the 22-year-old Prius driver is a persistent traffic offender. Last year alone, he was brought to administrative responsibility 67 times, mainly for violation of the speed limit. According to preliminary data, at the time of the accident, he again exceeded the speed.
