MOSCOW, March 14 – RIA Novosti. US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken announced “dubious grounds” for the detention in Moscow at the forum of the United Democrats project (a project of the Open Petersburg interregional public organization *).
“Today, the Russian authorities detained nearly 200 municipal leaders and politicians, including political activists Vladimir Kara-Murza and Yulia Galyamina, on dubious grounds,” the secretary of state wrote on Twitter, calling for an end to the persecution of “independent voices.”
Earlier, on the website of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Moscow, a message appeared that after an attempt to hold an event with undesirable organizations in a hotel complex on Izmaylovskoye Shosse, about 200 people were delivered to the OVD, a check is underway. It is noted that representatives of the public organization tried to hold the event in violation of epidemiological norms.
Coordinator of the United Democrats (a project of the interregional public organization Open Petersburg *) Anastasia Burakova told RIA Novosti that on Saturday a forum organized by this project was held at the Izmailovo Delta Hotel, which was attended by municipal deputies from the regions of Russia to discuss the strategy for the next electoral cycle and share experience with each other.
Marina Litvinovich, a member of the Moscow POC, told RIA Novosti that Ilya Yashin, Yevgeny Roizman and Yulia Galyamina were detained in Moscow at a forum of municipal deputies. In addition, the chairman of the Boris Nemtsov Foundation, Vladimir Kara-Murza Jr., wrote on his Facebook page that he was in the paddy wagon.
Later, Litvinovich told RIA Novosti that all those detained at the forum of the NGO-foreign agent were released from the Novokosino police station.
