The action began quietly in the city center in the area between the squares of the French Republic and Saint-Lambert, but soon escalated into riots. According to the channel, protesters first attacked police officers and then began throwing stones at the precinct building and official vehicles.

The footage posted online shows protesters smashing shop windows.

At about 16:45 (18:45 Moscow time), the police used water cannons to disperse the crowd, and later – tear gas. Demonstrators responded by throwing stones, road signs and bottles at the security forces standing in the cordon.

According to the TV channel, by evening the riots in the city center began to gradually subside.
