“We have already begun the negotiation process with Armenia on opening communications. This is part of the statement signed on November 10. A number of meetings have already taken place at various levels. This may become a turning point in order to completely close the page of the war. Earlier, Aliyev said that he proposed to create a corridor connecting Nakhichevan with the western part of Azerbaijan through the territory of Armenia, in his words, the presidents of Russia and Turkey, Vladimir Putin and Tayyip Erdogan, “reacted positively to the idea.” According to him, the opening of the transport corridor will lead Nakhichevan out of the blockade, and at the same time a new transport artery will open.
At the end of September last year, hostilities resumed in Nagorno-Karabakh, which became a continuation of the long-term conflict and led to casualties among the civilian population. The parties made several attempts to conclude a truce, but the tripartite agreement reached on the night of November 10 turned out to be successful. With the mediation of Moscow, Azerbaijan and Armenia agreed to completely cease fire and exchange prisoners and bodies of the dead.
