MOSCOW, 12 Mar – RIA Novosti. The infiltration of an unknown person at Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland, where the presidential aircraft Air Force One is based, was the result of a series of human errors, the Air Force spokesman said.
The incident took place on February 4th. The unknown not only ended up on the territory of the guarded base, but also boarded the Boeing C-40 Clipper aircraft, which is used for flights by members of the American administration and high-ranking military personnel. He was detained only after the end of the five-hour “excursion”.
The Air Force Inspector General in his report identified three reasons for the incident. The first mistake was made by the base guard, who, through an oversight, allowed a civilian to enter its territory. Then, taking advantage of the failure of the automatic gates at the checkpoint, the intruder entered the aircraft parking area without hindrance. And the staff who were there did not pay any attention to him.
According to the report, the intruder wore “a bright pink cap that partially covered his ears and had two prominent pompoms at the top that resembled mouse ears.”
