The accomplice of the Moldovan politician Vladimir Plahotniuc, who was put on the international wanted list, Elena Platon, director of the treasury of the Moldovan bank BC Moldindconbank SA, received 10 years in prison in Russia in the case of withdrawing more than 126 billion rubles from Russia, said the spokesman for the Russian Interior Ministry, Irina Volk.
According to her, Elena Platon was convicted on Thursday by the Tverskoy District Court of Moscow.
“From 2013 to 2014, she (Elena Platon) was an active member of the international criminal community, led by her brother Veaceslav Platon and a well-known politician and businessman Vladimir Plahotniuc in the Republic of Moldova. Together with the actual owners of a number of Russian banks, Alexander Grigoriev and Oleg Kuzmin, as well as by other accomplices, the accused carried out an illegal withdrawal from the Russian Federation to foreign states of more than 126 billion rubles, “Volk said.
The court appointed Platon 10 years of imprisonment, serving a sentence in a general regime colony and confiscation of property, the sentence has not entered into legal force and can be appealed.
