FSIN wants to send prisoners to clean up the Arctic

MOSCOW, 12 Mar – RIA Novosti. Prisoners can be involved in cleaning up the Arctic zone, said FSIN director Alexander Kalashnikov at the board meeting. “To date, an agreement has been reached with the leadership of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, the administration of the city of Norilsk,” he said.

Kalashnikov asked the heads of the territorial bodies of the Federal Penitentiary Service located in the Arctic zone to continue work in this direction. The director of the department noted the importance of educational work, as well as changes in the orientation and life position of prisoners for their re-socialization.

In 2020, Kalashnikov said that in 49 Russian regions, convicts are involved in sorting garbage.
