France approves use of Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine

PARIS, 12 Mar – RIA Novosti. France's Supreme Health Council has authorized the use of the country's fourth COVID-19 vaccine, the pharmaceutical division of Johnson & Johnson, Janssen-Cilag, France Info radio reported.

The French regulator clarifies that people aged 18 and older, including people aged 65 and / or at risk of developing severe forms of COVID-19 disease, can be vaccinated with this company's drug.

At the same time, it is noted that the first vaccinations in Europe with this vaccine can be made not earlier than April.

On Thursday, the vaccine was approved for use by the European drug regulator – the European Medicines Agency.

Currently, four vaccines are authorized on the EU market: Pfizer / BioNTech (purchase up to 600 million doses), Moderna (160 million doses), AstraZeneca (up to 400 million doses) and Johnson & Johnson. In addition, the EC has entered into contracts for the supply of vaccines to the EU with Sanofi-GSK and CureVac. Until now, Sanofi-GSK and CureVac have not yet applied for the authorization of their products on the EU market. CureVac made a request for a gradual review procedure on February 12.
