Three residents of Primorye were convicted of accidentally killing a man on an illegal hunt, the shooter was given a suspended sentence of 10 months, the regional prosecutor's office said. “The court established that at night in May 2020, three friends illegally hunted in a Toyota Hilux Surf car in the Olginsky district. Moving along the road, they tracked the animals using a thermal imaging sight mounted on a carbine. At some point, the men mistook a local resident for an animal, who hid in a forest. Stopping, one of them fired an aimed shot, from which the victim died, ” – the message says.

According to the prosecutor's office, having found the murdered man, the men fled the scene of the crime.

All three were found guilty under the article “Illegal hunting with the use of a motor vehicle by a group of persons by prior conspiracy”, the shooter was also convicted of causing death by negligence. The court imposed fines of 550 thousand rubles for two defendants and deprived them of the right to hunt for 2 years.

“The defendant who fired the shot was sentenced to 10 months of imprisonment conditionally with a fine of 520 thousand rubles and deprivation of the right to engage in amateur and sport hunting for a period of 2 years,” the prosecutor's office said. The verdict did not come into legal force.
