WASHINGTON, 11 Mar – RIA Novosti. US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken denies that the US is unfreezing any funds for Iran.
At the congressional hearings, Blinken was asked to comment on reports that South Korea will unfreeze $ 7 billion of Iranian-owned funds under US sanctions. He was also asked for comment on Bloomberg's reporting that Japan, Iraq and Oman are preparing to unfreeze funds for Iran with the consent of the US administration. The congressman wondered why the US is paying billions of dollars to Iran.
“We don’t do that, the reporting is wrong,” Blinken said.
According to him, the United States does not plan to weaken sanctions against Iran until it returns to compliance with nuclear agreements.
