MOSCOW, March 9 – RIA Novosti. The government has expanded early retirement opportunities for doctors, teachers, firefighters, pilots and some other categories of workers.
Now the length of service will include periods of study and additional vocational education, including refresher courses. The decree on this was signed by the head of the government Mikhail Mishustin.
“The main condition is that at this time the employees retain their jobs and wages, and employers deduct mandatory pension insurance contributions for them,” the government press service said in a statement.
The new procedure applies to all categories of workers entitled to an early retirement pension, but it is especially relevant for those whose profession requires constant professional development. As noted in the press service, this will primarily affect employees in the field of education and healthcare. Previously, their seniority included only “time spent at work, periods of temporary disability, annual and additional paid vacations, periods of transfer of a pregnant woman to work, excluding the impact of harmful factors.”
The right to an early retirement pension depends on age, pension coefficients, length of service, profession and even the number of children. The law includes more than 30 such categories of citizens: teachers, medical workers, bus drivers, timber loggers, employees engaged in heavy work in the textile industry.
In October 2018, Vladimir Putin signed a law to improve the pension system. Since 2019, a phased increase in the retirement age began by five years – up to 65 years for men and up to 60 years for women. The law takes into account measures to protect persons of pre-retirement age. Initially, the government bill provided for a gradual increase in the retirement age to 65 for men and 63 for women. However, in the second reading, the State Duma deputies took into account the president's proposals and adjusted the deadlines.
