MGIMO Graduate Founds Anti-Russian Movement in Georgia

MOSCOW, 8 March – RIA Novosti. Elene Khoshtaria, a Georgian opposition politician, has founded the Droa (Pora) movement, which will expose those “connected with Russia.” She announced this on Facebook. “I expose corrupt officials, offenders, swindlers, thieves, clan members, nepotism and ties with Russia,” she wrote.

The politician called Georgia “one of the most unjust and poorest” countries, in which out of 3.7 million people, 1.3 million are socially unprotected, or have debts to pawnshops and banks. She clarified that in the period from 2012 to 2019, 760 thousand people left the country, and the pandemic will plunge more than half a million people into poverty.

Elene Khoshtaria is a graduate of the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO) and one of the most anti-Russia politicians in Georgia. In the summer of 2019, she led a campaign to remove Russian MP Sergei Gavrilov from the parliamentary hall of the country. Khoshtaria called her studies at a Russian university “experience in the enemy's camp.” At the same time, she noted that she was forced to study in Russia, since she did not have money to study in Europe.
