Magnitude 5.5 earthquake hits Indonesian coast

MOSCOW, 8 March – RIA Novosti. A magnitude 5.5 earthquake struck on Monday off the coast of Sumatra, Indonesia, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) reported.

The earthquake was recorded at 12.56 UTC (15.56 Moscow time). The epicenter of the tremors was located 158 kilometers southwest of Benkulu province. The hearth lay at a depth of 10 kilometers.

Information about possible casualties and destruction was not received.
