MOSCOW, 8 March – RIA Novosti. Internet sites, of course, must monitor the purity of the content, examples of blocking reliable media materials for political reasons are unacceptable, said Alexander Khinshtein, head of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy.
Earlier, Roskomnadzor demanded that Facebook restore access to information posted in the official accounts of several Russian media outlets about the detention of supporters of the Ukrainian neo-Nazi group MKU by the Russian FSB. “Social networks, search engines are becoming customers of the information agenda – the coverage of some messages can be increased, others reduced, and some materials even blocked. Of course, Internet sites must monitor the purity of the content, in fact, we ourselves have adopted a law on self-regulation of social networks, but examples blocking reliable materials for political reasons is unacceptable, “said Khinshtein, quoted by the Telegram channel of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy.
He added that the development of information technology should give humanity more freedom and make life more comfortable.
Khinshtein noted that over the past few months, virtually all major Russian media outlets have been censored on YouTube, Facebook, Twitter.
“Facebook's blocking of Russian media publications about the FSB operation is another act of censorship and a disregard for the rights of Russian citizens to free access to information. That is why a law was passed last year on counteracting censorship on foreign Internet platforms, and this is an amendment to the Administrative Code. increasing fines for non-compliance with the law. Such actions should be punished with a ruble “, – added the deputy.
