S.-PETERSBURG, 6 March – RIA Novosti. The spread of COVID-19 in St. Petersburg is declining more slowly than a week ago, according to the city's interagency coordination council to counter the spread of coronavirus.
“Compared to last Saturday, the number of new cases of the disease, as well as the number of hospitalizations of adults, has slightly increased … The rate of decline in the spread of infection has become extremely low,” the council said.
At the same time, it is noted that in the city there is a decrease in the intensity of vaccination with the first dose due to insufficient activity of residents. The number of people vaccinated with the second dose is increasing.
“In this situation, the likelihood of an increase in the incidence of COVID-19 increases. Given the unstable epidemic situation, the interdepartmental coordinating council and the health committee urge residents of St. Petersburg who have no medical contraindications to get vaccinated against a new coronavirus infection in a timely manner,” the materials noted.
To date, 280,053 people have been vaccinated in St. Petersburg, of which 146,886 have completed the vaccination cycle. Over the past day, 6,035 people were initially vaccinated, and 9,135 secondarily.
In total, the city received 348,542 sets of vaccines. The unspent balance is currently 68,489 sets.
