MOSCOW, 7 Mar – RIA Novosti. Kiev is going to fine the Chinese company Lekhim due to the delay in deliveries of the first batch of coronavirus vaccine to Ukraine. Deputy Minister of Health of Ukraine Igor Ivashchenko told Reuters about it.
It is noted that Lekhim supplies Chinese vaccine against COVID-19 to Sinovac. Under the contract, the first batch of the drug was supposed to arrive in Ukraine before March 6. “They do not comply with the stated deadlines. There will be fines that are specified in the contract,” Ivaschenko stressed.
At the same time, the deputy minister did not specify in what form the sanctions would be imposed against the Chinese firm, however, according to Reuters, the firm could be fined 0.1% of the cost for each day of delay.
The company itself did not comment on the information.
Earlier, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine voted for a law that provides for the possibility of registering vaccines for use, provided that there is evidence of successful preclinical trials, and clinical trials were conducted with the permission of the relevant competent authorities of the USA, Great Britain, Switzerland, Japan, Australia, Canada, China. Israel, India, Mexico, Brazil or the European Union. The same document states that the drug should not be developed in Russia.
