A fire broke out on the Ob near Nizhnevartovsk after a gas pipeline accident

MOSCOW, 6 Mar – RIA Novosti. A fire broke out in the Ob water area near Nizhnevartovsk, presumably due to an accident at an underwater product pipeline, the head of Rosprirodnadzor Svetlana Radionova wrote on Instagram.

She stressed that the department is monitoring the situation, inspectors will arrive at the accident site in the near future to establish the causes and assess the harm to the environment.

According to the company “SiburTyumenGaz”, the fire was localized, from the place of emergency to the nearest settlement about 44 kilometers, there are no risks for the population and the environment.

A RIA Novosti source in emergency services added that, according to preliminary information, as a result of the incident, one person received burns, he did not need hospitalization.

In turn, the head of the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug, Sergei Pikunov, answering a question about a possible oil spill, told RIA Novosti that “there is an event”, but it is not within the competence of his department, since it is a “federal facility”.
