YAROSLAVL, 6 March – RIA Novosti. Firefighters extinguish a fire at the Mendeleev refinery in the Tutaevsky district of the Yaroslavl region, a representative of the Ministry of Emergency Situations for the region told RIA Novosti.
“The message was received at 20.00. According to preliminary data, two containers with fuel caught fire on the territory of the Mendeleev refinery,” the agency's interlocutor said, noting that he could not yet clarify the extent of the fire.
No one was injured in the fire, they added to the Ministry of Emergency Situations in the region.
“The ignition of two tanks with petroleum products with a volume of 600 cubic meters is confirmed … At the moment, spilling and cooling is in progress, there is no threat of proliferation, there are no casualties,” the Ministry of Emergency Situations said in a statement.
Yaroslavl experimental industrial oil refinery named after D.I. Mendeleev is the oldest oil refinery currently operating in Russia. In 1881, a group of engineers worked at the plant, headed by the great Russian scientist D.I. Mendeleev.
