YAROSLAVL, 6 March – RIA Novosti. The fire at the Mendeleev refinery in the Tutaevsky district of the Yaroslavl region has been extinguished, the structures are spilled, the company and rescuers reported.
Earlier, a representative of the Ministry of Emergency Situations told RIA Novosti that the message about the fire at the refinery was received at 20.00 on Saturday. According to preliminary data, two fuel containers caught fire. In social networks, eyewitnesses wrote that they heard a strong clap. Later it was confirmed that two tanks with oil products with a volume of 600 cubic meters had caught fire. There are no casualties.
“All services worked promptly, the fire was extinguished. There are no casualties. There is no threat of oil spills. The installation was not damaged. The causes of the fire are being established,” the company said in an official statement.
The Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations in the region clarified to RIA Novosti that at present there is a strait of structures.
Yaroslavl experimental industrial oil refinery named after D.I. Mendeleev is the oldest oil refinery currently operating in Russia. In 1881, a group of engineers worked at the plant, headed by the great Russian scientist D.I. Mendeleev.
