Murashko discussed with the head of WHO the use of the Sputnik V vaccine

MOSCOW, 6 Mar – RIA Novosti. During a video call, Russian Health Minister Mikhail Murashko discussed with the Director General of the World Health Organization Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus the consideration of an application for the inclusion of the Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine in the list of WHO-approved funds for use in emergencies, the press service of the ministry told reporters.

During the conversation, the sides touched upon the topics of countering the spread of the new coronavirus infection, including vaccination of the population.

“To date, the Sputnik V vaccine has already been received by millions of citizens. The vaccine forms stable antibody and cellular immunity to the pathogen COVID-19 and does not have serious side effects. The vaccine has essentially become a world bestseller,” the Russian minister said in a statement.

The parties also discussed “the progress of the international organization's consideration of the application for the inclusion of the Russian Sputnik V vaccine in the list of medicines approved by WHO for use in emergency situations,” the Ministry of Health added.
