MOSCOW, 6 Mar – RIA Novosti. More than 1.3 tons of vegetables were withdrawn from the warehouse after the infection of children with yersiniosis in the Krasnoyarsk Territory, the outbreak of the disease is under the control of the head of Rospotrebnadzor Anna Popova, the department told reporters.
Earlier it was reported that in Krasnoyarsk, 131 cases of yersiniosis were registered among students in 25 schools. According to the Ministry of Health, 51 children remain in hospitals, five have been discharged. Children were poisoned by vegetable salads in canteens. The activity of the vegetable supplier has been suspended due to unsanitary conditions and rodents in the warehouses. Two criminal cases were initiated.
According to the epidemiological investigation, Rospotrebnadzor said, the incidence is associated with the consumption of fresh vegetable salads contaminated with Yersinia. The warehouse of the agricultural production cooperative turned out to be inhabited by rodents, which are a natural reservoir for the Yersinia. Technological and sanitary and hygienic requirements were not observed in the manufacture and sale of fresh vegetables in vacuum packaging. “Laboratories of Rospotrebnadzor found Yersinia genetic material in samples of studied vegetable products, in samples of ready-made salads, in washes from environmental objects (packaging, equipment and inventory). The production and sale of vegetable products was immediately suspended, more than 1.3 tons of vegetable products were withdrawn from circulation, “the department noted.
The Rospotrebnadzor also added that the supplier of vegetable products, which were supplied centrally to the educational institutions of the city, is Respect LLC. The organization of meals in schools where the sick is detected is carried out by Razvitie LLC. The activities of these legal entities have been suspended, and administrative proceedings have been initiated.
