KAZAN, 6 March – RIA Novosti. Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko proposed to create an organizing committee to promote discoveries in chemistry, using the world-famous brand Ru.
As the Deputy Prime Minister recalled, the abbreviation Ru, which today denotes the territory of the country, as well as the domain area, originally served as the name of the chemical element ruthenium, which was discovered at Kazan University in 1844.
“This means that in 2024 there will be the 180th anniversary of the abbreviation Ru. It is a chemical element, but (also) it is a brand, probably one of the most recognizable in the world, perhaps more recognizable than Coca-Cola or anything else,” he suggested Chernyshenko on Saturday during his visit to the Kazan Federal University (KFU).
“We think that this year, which the president has declared as the Year of Science and Technology, announces the initiative to create an organizing committee to promote discoveries in the field of chemistry under the auspices of the chemical element ruthenium,” he said.
This action, believes Chernyshenko, will help encourage young people to interest in chemistry and other basic sciences.
