MOSCOW, 5 March – RIA Novosti. Rospotrebnadzor recalled what you need to pay attention to when choosing products on the eve of Maslenitsa week.
Shrovetide this year is celebrated from March 8 to 14. “For many festive dishes, pancakes, dumplings, cheesecakes, pies with and without filling, flour is a common product. The following processes lead to deterioration of flour: rancidity, sourness, mold, development of insects and ticks and tracking, “the message reads.
The department advises to properly store the flour and sift it before kneading the dough.
When choosing sour cream and cottage cheese, you need to pay attention to storage conditions and labeling. The storage temperature of these products should not exceed 6 degrees. Good cottage cheese and sour cream should contain nothing but milk and sourdough.
Berries are often used to fill dishes for Shrovetide. Rospotrebnadzor recommends not buying frozen berries stuck together in one piece of ice. It is added that berries sold in self-service mode may contain germs from dirty hands or coughing and sneezing of customers.
“When choosing meat, it is important not to buy it from random persons, in places of unauthorized trade, from cars along the roads. In these cases, there is a risk of acquiring the meat of sick or dead animals,” the message says.
Rospotrebnadzor reminds that all meat dishes must be heat treated so as not to get intestinal infections or parasitic diseases.
