MURMANSK, 5 Mar – RIA Novosti. Norway joins the sanctions imposed by the EU in the case of Alexei Navalny and will take identical measures, the press service of the Kingdom's Foreign Ministry told RIA Novosti.
“Norway joins the EU decision and will introduce measures identical to the EU sanctions,” – said in response to a request from RIA Novosti about Norway's position on EU sanctions against Russia.
The Foreign Ministry did not specify what exactly these measures were.
The European Union on Tuesday imposed sanctions for the first time under the new global regime for human rights violations against four Russian citizens for the arrest of Alexei Navalny. The United States, following the EU, announced the introduction of sanctions against the Russian Federation. The list includes 14 organizations with the wording “for the production of biological and chemical weapons.” In addition, US sanctions target specific individuals and organizations, and will include export and visa restrictions.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said earlier that Moscow would unequivocally respond to possible US sanctions against Russia. Press Secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov noted that the Kremlin is confident that the policy of sanctions against the Russian Federation does not achieve its goal.
