The third earthquake of magnitude 8.0 hits the coast of New Zealand

MOSCOW, 4 Mar – RIA Novosti. An earthquake of magnitude 8.0 struck off the coast of New Zealand, according to the US Geological Survey.

The epicenter of the earthquake was more than 1.1 thousand kilometers from the city of Wakatane on the North Island.

After the earthquake, a tsunami threat was declared.

Earlier Thursday, powerful earthquakes with magnitudes 7.3 and 7.5 were recorded in the same region.
