KHABAROVSK, 4 Mar – RIA Novosti. The case against the abbot and bell ringer of a church in the Jewish Autonomous Region, who are accused of having corrupted 53 boys in 12 years, has been sent to court, a source in the security forces told RIA Novosti.
The source told the agency about the completion of the investigation at the end of December.
“The criminal case on the molestation of 53 boys has been sent to court. The prosecutor's office has upheld the charge,” he said.
According to the interlocutor of the agency, in November 2019, a resident of the Jewish Autonomous Region applied to the UK with a request to check the 39-year-old abbot of the Church of the Holy Prophet Elijah in the village of Amurzet in the Oktyabrsky District, Hieromonk Spiridon (Yuri Abramov) for molestation of boys aged 12 to 16 years. After the priest was detained, a search was carried out, the security forces confiscated a collection of objects that were far from spiritual. According to the investigation, his assistant, 26-year-old bell ringer Sergei Moos, helped the priest to rape children; Abramov had been working with novices since 2007.
Abramov and Moos have been in custody since their arrest.
