MOSCOW, 4 Mar – RIA Novosti. Russia supplied Slovakia with the Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine based on a government application from Bratislava, said Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova.
“Vaccine supplies to Slovakia began on the basis of a government application from Bratislava. This is not smuggling, not counterfeit, not a violation of any norms – this is a government application. We really recorded a violent reaction in connection with the start of supplies,” Zakharova said at a briefing.
According to her, there are statements that “cause bewilderment”, and at the same time there are expressions of gratitude and support from the population of Slovakia.
“The fact that the supply of the Russian vaccine caused internal political disagreements in Slovakia, in our opinion, is evidence of internal political disagreements, including in the assessment of Russia. How this is related to the vaccine is a big question,” Zakharova noted. coronavirus
The first batch of the Russian Sputnik V vaccine was delivered Monday from Moscow to the city of Kosice in eastern Slovakia. As Prime Minister Igor Matovich said at a press conference at the airport, it was decided to purchase the Sputnik V vaccine without waiting for its registration in the EU, since, according to the Prime Minister, “there is no time for delay, there is not enough vaccines in the country, every day dozens of our fellow citizens die from COVID-19. “
Reacting to the arrival of the first batch of vaccine, Slovak Foreign Minister Ivan Korchok said on Tuesday that Sputnik V's lack of registration in the EMA confirms that this is not a vaccine, but a “hybrid warfare tool.” In turn, two deputy prime ministers and leaders of the two parties that are part of the current ruling coalition, Richard Sulik (the Freedom and Solidarity party) and Veronika Remishova (the For People party), said that in connection with the latest actions of the prime minister in relation to the Russian vaccines, they do not exclude the reorganization of the government until the withdrawal of their parties.
On Thursday, Korchok and Remishova expressed their approval of the start of the registration process for Sputnik with EMA.
Currently, the use of the Sputnik V vaccine has been approved in 42 countries.
