MOSCOW, 4 Mar – RIA Novosti. Despite the fact that the risk of infection with COVID-19 in the context of the existing pandemic always exists, a flower bouquet presented to an elderly woman on March 8 is unlikely to become a carrier of infection, interviewed doctors told RIA Novosti.
International Women's Day is celebrated annually on March 8th. It is considered the day of spring, female beauty, tenderness, spiritual wisdom and attention to a woman, regardless of her status and age. “When we live in an epidemic, the probability of infection always exists. The risk that the coronavirus will be transmitted through a bouquet of flowers in including those intended for an elderly woman, is virtually absent – a very low probability, “- said the doctor of medical sciences, virologist Anatoly Altstein.
He concluded that during an epidemic, and even more so on the 8th of March, giving flowers to women is not only possible, but also necessary.
At the same time, one should not be afraid of contracting coronavirus in a flower shop, emphasized the head physician of the Leader of Medicine medical center, infectious disease doctor Yevgeny Timakov.
“Doors constantly open in flower shops. Since the premises themselves are often not huge, they are constantly ventilated. There is no need to be afraid of getting infected, but all measures must be followed,” Timakov said.
