MOSCOW, March 3 – RIA Novosti. Leader of the Liberal Democratic Party Vladimir Zhirinovsky, commenting on the situation with the poisoning of schoolchildren in Krasnoyarsk, proposed to tighten control measures over school meals, in particular, introduce personal responsibility of the cook for the quality of food, as well as oblige officials to try school food.
In Krasnoyarsk, 91 cases of yersiniosis were registered among students in 25 schools. Children were poisoned by vegetable salads in canteens. Two criminal cases were initiated. First Deputy Minister of Education of the Russian Federation Dmitry Glushko said that due to the poisoning he would ask the regional ministry for clarification about the reasons, the contractor and the measures taken. The head of the city, Sergei Eremin, announced the dismissal of two responsible for food at the school. Glushko discussed the situation with the head of Rospotrebnadzor Anna Popova, according to the supervisory authority, the local agricultural enterprise, which produces and supplies vegetables for processing, is to blame.
“Today, school meals are one of the most unsafe in the public catering sector. Has anyone heard that 90 people are poisoned at once in some cafe? Yes, even in a stall near the station? And schoolchildren are poisoned in such quantities every year! In Krasnoyarsk, this is a sore subject. This is not the first year. It means that it is necessary to tighten control measures, introduce personal responsibility of the cook for the quality of food, “Zhirinovsky wrote in his Telegram channel on Wednesday.
According to him, the school chef will “think a hundred times” before “cutting unwashed vegetables into a salad or boiling meat with a smell,” and will refuse to cook rotten vegetables altogether.
The leader of the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia does not exclude that in this case, some of the factories, which are “used to working like a blunder,” will go bankrupt.
“But we will preserve the health of thousands of children,” he stressed.
Zhirinovsky also believes that the best way to get officials to really control the quality of food is to oblige them to try what they cook for children.
“In the army, the commander always personally tastes what the soldiers will be fed with, so the employees of Rospotrebnadzor themselves have to take a sample in those consignments of food that are delivered to schools. He refused to try – the whole batch is at a standstill,” he explained.
