MOSCOW, March 3 – RIA Novosti. The Moscow Arbitration Court has registered claims of PJSC Oil Company Rosneft against ZAO Publishing House Novaya Gazeta, the Latvian IStories fonds (Vostochnye Stories online edition) and the American news agency Bloomberg, follows from the information in the filing of arbitration cases.
All claims were submitted to the court on Tuesday and have not yet been accepted for consideration. The case cards state that the oil company filed applications “to establish facts of legal significance.” Recently, with this wording, arbitration courts often register claims for the protection of business reputation.
In the first lawsuit, Maksim Averbukh is listed as the co-defendant of the founder of Novaya Gazeta. The co-defendant in the lawsuit against “Important Stories” is Roman Shleinov. The subject and grounds of the claims in all three cases have not yet been disclosed.
Rosneft confirmed to RIA Novosti the fact of filing claims, but has not yet clarified the essence of the disputes.
On the website of Novaya Gazeta there is an article authored by Averbukh “Sechin is in a hurry to rescue. How the head of Rosneft reported to the president about” incredible results “, dated February 20. It, in particular, analyzes the financial results of 2020 for Rosneft and other leading world oil companies, and the statement by the head of Rosneft Igor Sechin that Rosneft is the only oil company in the world to make a profit in 2020 was called “incredible at first glance.”
“Important Stories” on February 8 published an article by Shleinov “Dancer for Rosneft”, which tells about the purchase of a stake in a large Italian tire manufacturer Pirelli by a Russian oil company in 2014. The deal is called “not the most transparent” in the publication.
RIA Novosti has no official confirmation that the appeal to the court is connected with these publications.
