PETROPAVLOVSK-KAMCHATSKY, March 3 – RIA Novosti. A new criminal case has been opened against the former head of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky Vitaly Ivanenko and his brother, convicted earlier for taking a bribe and mediation in bribery, according to the regional investigation department of the RF IC.
Ivanenko resigned from the post of mayor with the wording “of his own free will” in November 2019. In December 2020, he was convicted of taking a bribe. He was sentenced to 5 years 6 months in prison, serving a sentence in a strict regime colony, paying a fine of 4 million rubles. His brother was found guilty of mediation in bribery – he was sentenced to imprisonment for a term of 3 years and 6 months, serving in a general regime colony and paying a fine of 2.2 million rubles.
“A new criminal case was initiated on 4 crimes of corruption, part 6 of article 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (taking bribes on an especially large scale), part 4 of article 291.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (2 episodes of mediation in bribery), part 5 of article 291 of the Criminal Code RF (giving a bribe) “, – the message says.
According to the investigation, in the period from May to August 2018, a representative of one of the commercial organizations transferred, through intermediaries, a bribe in the amount of 2 million rubles to the former head of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. In return, the ex-mayor had to accept the city improvement work performed by the company and ensure priority when concluding municipal contracts in the future. The Investigative Committee found that one of the intermediaries in the bribery was the official's brother.
The Investigative Committee added that the reason for initiating a criminal case was the materials of the prosecutor's check and the materials of the operational-search activities of the FSB of Russia in the Kamchatka Territory.
