Two Egyptians will be sent to the colony for trying to cross the Russian border

KALININGRAD, March 2 – RIA Novosti. The court sentenced two Egyptians to 1 year and 10 months in a general regime colony for attempting to illegally cross the state border of the Russian Federation, the press service of the prosecutor's office of the Kaliningrad region reported.

The court found that two Egyptian citizens had prepared in advance for crossing the border into the European Union – they had backpacks with food and clothing with them. They identified the most convenient place for crossing the border in the Bagrationovskiy district of the Kaliningrad region and tried to cross the border with Poland, but they were detained by officers of the Russian FSB border service about 50 meters from the border.

“The court, agreeing with the position of the prosecution, passed a guilty verdict, sentencing them to 1 year and 10 months in prison with serving a sentence in a general regime correctional colony. The verdict did not come into legal force,” the message says.

It is noted that foreigners were found guilty of committing a crime provided for in part 3 of article 30 – part 3 of article 322 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (an attempt to cross the state border of the Russian Federation without valid documents for the right to leave the Russian Federation and without proper permission obtained in accordance with the procedure established by the legislation of the Russian Federation, committed by a group of persons by prior conspiracy).
