KHABAROVSK, March 1 – RIA Novosti. The billionaire deputy of the Sakhalin Regional Duma, Dmitry Pashov, who was detained in Khabarovsk on Friday, was sent into custody for two months, RIA Novosti reported on Monday at the Central District Court.
Earlier, a source of the agency said that Pashov was detained during a business trip.
“The Central District Court on February 28 (Pashov – ed.) Elected a preventive measure in the form of detention for a period of two months – until April 26. He will remain in the Khabarovsk pre-trial detention center for now, and then – as the investigator decides,” the agency's interlocutor said.
As RIA Novosti explained to RIA Novosti, the president of the Association of Fishery Enterprises of the Sakhalin Region (ARP), deputy of the local parliament Maxim Kozlov, Pashov was detained on long-initiated criminal cases. Pashov, according to him, was on Sakhalin all this time, attended all interrogations, participated in investigative measures.
Local media suggest that Pashov's detention is related to the cases against his former ally Oleg Kan, who is called the “crab king”. Kahn himself is on the international wanted list.
In December 2018, a federal TV channel aired a film about illegal fishing in the Far East and the sale of king crab in South Korea and Japan. The article said that the illegal business was organized, in particular, by Kahn.
The head of the Investigative Committee, Alexander Bastrykin, previously instructed the central office of the department to take the materials of the case on the 2010 murder of entrepreneur Valery Pkhidenko from the employees of the Sakhalin head office of the Investigative Committee and find out why they suspended the investigation. The Investigative Committee found that Kahn was the organizer of the murder. His accomplice Dmitry Polyakov was convicted in 2011.
Dmitry Pashov has been sitting in the Sakhalin parliament since 2017. In addition, he is the chairman of the board of the Sakhalin Region Fishery Association and the owner of the Moneron fishing company. In 2019, Forbes named Pashov the richest deputy in Russia. The declared income then amounted to 6.2 billion rubles.
