Magnitude 5.5 earthquake hits Peru coast

MOSCOW, February 28 – RIA Novosti. A magnitude 5.5 earthquake struck Sunday off the coast of Peru, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) reports.

The earthquake was recorded at 2.16 UTC (5.16 Moscow time). The epicenter was located 81 kilometers southwest of the Arequipa region. The source of the earthquake lay at a depth of nine kilometers.

Information about possible casualties and destruction was not received.
